Site Updates

Just wanted to share a quick update to let you in on a few updates I’ve made to the blog.

Commenting

I’ve implemented basic commenting via Disqus. It’s not quite ideal in that it’s a third-party solution (and I love building my own things), but it was quick and easy, and the blog software I use has an integration built-in so… why not try it out? If it’s not useful I might rip it out but at least one person has asked for the ability to comment (Hi, Eric!) so I figured I’d give the people (person) what they (he) want (wants).

You can find the comment section at the bottom of every blog post (including this one – how meta!). I haven’t really tested it extensively, and you might need to create a user account to comment, but you should be able to link it to your Facebook/Google/Twitter account if you don’t already have a Disqus account.

Email subscriptions

Another piece that was somewhat lacking was the ability to notify people of new blog posts outside of Twitter and RSS posts (an admittedly nerdy way to get blog updates). As such, I’ve added an email subscription form to the bottom of the page. Just enter your email address, and you’ll get an email whenever I post a new blog entry. Mail is scheduled to go out at 9am Pacific Time the day after a blog post, so you’ll be able to start your day off right, reading my amazing writing.
